1 Hour Timer

An hour covers a full exam paper, a double-lesson project or an extended assessment. The countdown shows hours, minutes and seconds, so everyone in the room knows exactly how long is left.

How do you use the 1 hour timer?

  1. The timer is already set to 1 hour. Press Start or the Space bar to begin, and Space again to pause.
  2. Press Present (or F) to show it full screen. Pick Pie, Bar or Digits, and choose an end sound.
  3. When time is up you'll hear the chime and see "Time's up!". Press Start again for another round, or +1 min if the class needs longer.

Ways to use a 1 hour timer in class

  • Exam paper: a full sixty minutes, with the display turning amber in the last minute.
  • Double-lesson project: split the hour into planning, making and presenting.
  • Assessment day: run the same hour for every group, on the board for all to see.

Questions teachers ask

How does the one-hour timer show the time?

It counts down from 1:00:00 in hours, minutes and seconds. Switch to Bar or Pie for a picture of how much of the hour is left, which younger students read more easily.

Can I run the hour timer while I show slides?

Yes. The timer works from the clock, so it stays exact while you switch to your slides or another tab, and the end sound still plays when the hour is up.
